Laxdale Holiday Park

Visit Scotland Self Catering Holiday Park 4 Star Visit Scotland Hostel

Laxdale is a family-run park, surrounded by trees.  The facilities are modern, as are our caravan holiday homes.  We are only 1.5 miles from Stornoway (ferry from Ullapool) and an ideal base from which to tour Lewis.  We have a caravan holiday home which is wheelchair-accessible.

Our wooden wigwam camping pods have electric light, panel heater, anda  picnic bench outside. You can choose from our smaller ‘Wee Brave’ Wigwam (3 adults and 1 child) or larger ‘Big Chief’ Wigwam (4 adults and 1 child). Each has a raised sleeping platform with mattresses, and this converts to cushioned seating;  plus a free-standing table. The small kitchen area has a fridge (with ice box), microwave and  kettle. Our wigwams are 40m from the toilet/shower block.Parking is close to the wigwams. Dogs are allowed in the wigwams but not unattended and must be kept on a leash.

Bunkhouse:  We have a bunkhouse for backpackers, families or larger groups. 4 bedrooms with 4 bunks in each room, sleeping a total of 16. Rooms are well heated and have a locker for each bunk. Dividing curtains provide privacy between pairs of bunks. Two toilets and showers suitable for the disabled, plus a pressurised hot-water system for strong hot showers (free).Fully equipped kitchen, electric cookers and hobs, fridges, a microwave and a dining area for eight persons. Comfortable lounge, with TV, which is furnished to a very high standard. Drying room.

The bunkhouse has private parking, a covered veranda, and a picnic table and barbecue area.
